Life of a Plus-size girl(in India)

Being a Plus size girl, i have always faced problems buying clothes for myself. Plus size women deserve better than the over sized tents on offer by the Indian brands. The uncomfortable snobbery of the fashion world and the unforgiving nature has still not altered, even though every 1 out of 5 people in this country are big.

Plus size fashion in India is virtually non-existent and the few brands that are there clearly lack behind in terms of design. They are a joke on the sartorial scene of this country. The price tags are appalling to say the least. Common guys, my body is big but not my pocket.

The general thinking of the masses is that "plus size" fashion is just another way of promoting obesity and unhealthy eating habits. My point is, why not accept someone the way they are. If a woman is confident the way she is, how is it anybody else's business. A women's body is her own property and she is free to do whatever she wants to,or project herself the way suits her best.

I have heard enough(random) people telling me to join the gym/zumba/yoga/dance classes, this diet or the other, how their neighbor/relative/friend lost his/her unwanted weight and i should do the same. I have been told many times how beautiful i will look if i reduce some kilos, how i can become a model if i lose some weight. I AM BEAUTIFUL THE WAY I AM. I have been on both sides of the scale. I have literally starved myself for months to reach a certain size. And the the day i stopped torturing myself i gained all the weight again. You cannot judge a book by its cover. You don't know me to pass judgments about my size, lifestyle or my existence.

Remember, you are more than the number on the scale, more than what they say about you.Take today to decide to get healthy ( and not to achieve a certain size). Don't do it to get thinner, do it to get healthier.

Your relationship with your body should be about health not size, and i hope that all the haters out there realize this sooner.

Just go out there, and redefine sexy.
